 | The Chief's temple is a large structure seated atop the highest tier of the capitol city and is the most recognizable landmark in all of the Northern Water Tribe, able to be seen at almost any viewpoint. The temple stands like a monument, demonstrating the strength and power of the Northern Tribe. It is here the chief sits with his chieftains and makes decisions regarding the Tribe.

 | A secluded cove at the base of a waterfall situated behind the chief’s temple. This supernatural place is a lush, warm, tropical oasis and the center of all spiritual activity in the entire North Pole. It is believed that the energy of the Moon and Ocean spirits is what keeps the oasis constantly tepid and flourishing. The oasis holds a small koi pond that contains the two koi fish perpetually swimming in circle motion, as well as a spirit gate. During each full moon, the tribe makes an offering to the spirits as thanks for their protection by placing food and objects beneath the oasis gate. The grassy island is also used for wedding ceremonies.

 | These are small, classroom-like huts where Yugoda the Healer and other healing masters teach young, female Waterbenders how to properly utilize their healing abilities, primarily using mannequins with the artificial chi paths of a human body carved into them.

 | The Village, positioned on a northwestern shoreline, is surrounded by a low, roughly circular snow wall, broken up by a snow watchtower, to the north that fell when Zuko's ship was landing, and an ungated entrance to the south. Inside are eight residential tents, arranged semi-circularly around a communal fire pit. A giant igloo hugs the east wall, while a handful of smaller ones cluster at the north wall. Outside, to the left of the entrance, is a small igloo-structure that serves as the village outhouse. The remaining population stands at less than two dozen, with ten married and/or elderly women, ten young children, and one domesticated arctic wolf.

 | West of the village lies a Fire Navy ship, torn open on jutting ice shelves. Abandoned after becoming lodged in the ice, the ironclad ship was part of the Fire Nation’s very first attacks over a century ago. Though the shipwreck is a relic of the Fire Nation's long-ago first strike, its booby-traps are still in working order. The tribe considers the vessel to be a bad omen and the children are forbidden to enter it.

 | The Foggy Swamp Tribe are a waterbending Tribe who live in a mystical swamp in the Earth Kingdom. The swamp itself actually consists, in large part, of a single, massive swamp tree, at least several hundred feet tall, whose roots and tree limbs have spread out for miles to form the foundation of the swamp. Though the Foggy Swamp tribe Waterbenders share the skill of waterbending, they were completely unknown to their polar cousins and vice versa, until Katara, Sokka, and Aang stumbled across the tribe. They speak with a Mississippi River Delta accent, with whom they share much of their stereotypes. Though technologically unsophisticated, the tribe retains powerful Waterbenders, some of which express unique applications of their element.

 | A medium-sized abbey that can be found on a few miles away from the Mo Ce Sea on the west coast of the Earth Kingdom. Over four hundred years old, the ancient structure expresses a simple design of high walls and a large courtyard, reflecting the simple life of the nuns that dwell within it. Though situated in the Earth Kingdom, the nuns have come to claim the abbey as neutral grounds.

 | Ba Sing Se was the capital of the Earth Kingdom. It withstood a six-hundred day siege led by the Fire Nation's General Iroh,[14] which ended after Iroh's son, Lu Ten, died on the front lines and Iroh was in too much in grief to continue. Ba Sing Se is an enormous city with several rock-like monorails, similarly to the ones in Omashu although greatly scaled up and more sedate. The "cars" are moved by Earthbending.

 | | Ba Sing Se's greatest secret to its staying power in the war is the farmland behind its outer wall. These vast fields supply the entire city with food to enable them to survive a siege of any duration, so long as the outer wall remains intact. Only on two separate occasions has the great wall ever been penetrated. It was apparently breached during Iroh's six-hundred day siege, however, the city survived, as the siege broke shortly thereafter. The city's wall is nearly penetrated once again by a large drill-like invention created by the Mechanist for the Fire Nation.

 | A secret tunnel that passes through a section of the Kolau mountain range just beyond the Earth Kingdom of Omashu.[1] The tunnel is home to territorial creatures such as Wolfbats and their natural predators, the earthbending Badgermoles. In actuality the tunnel is a giant subterranean labyrinth, filled with a seemingly endless supply of bewildering twists and turns. In the center of the labyrinth is the Tomb of Two Lovers, the creators of the cave, founders of the city of Omashu, and the world's very first human Earthbenders.

 | The city of Omashu sits within a mountain range, surrounded on all sides by steep canyons and an enormous gorge, with the only way to its gates being a narrow path over the chasm. The cities' three gates are composed from massive stone, each five feet thick and towering over thirty feet high. As a result are accessible only by Earthbenders who guard its only entrance.[27] It is ruled by King Bumi and holds the place of being the Earth Kingdom's second largest city. Omashu's main industry was producing weapons and supplies for the war effort, and had developed a complex and efficient mail system used to transport goods throughout the city that employed Earthbending and gravity using extensive ramps and chutes.

 | A dangerous passage to Ba Sing Se, occasionally described as the "Deadly" Serpent's Pass. It is a slender, natural bridge made up of mountainous rocks and surrounded by water, the sole portion of land connecting the Southern Earth Kingdom to the Northern Earth Kingdom. The passage also serves to separate the Eastern Earth Kingdom side from the Western Fire Nation controlled side. Several years ago, the Serpent's pass was the only way for refugees to get from the Southern Earth Kingdom to Ba Sing Se, but fortunately today there are less dangerous route ferries able to shuttle refugees across.

 | An ancient structure built and passed over from the Spirit world to the physical world by the knowledge spirit Wan Shi Tong several thousand years ago for the purpose of the preservation of all the world's knowledge for the betterment of humanity. While it was once a huge palatial structure, a large majority of was buried beneath the sands of the Si Wong and only its top most spire was visible from the desert. With the assistance of his knowledge seekers, the library has built up an enormous collection, though a portion of it has been destroyed by the Fire Nation. The library also holds an advanced, domed planetary calender room constructed from various fine materials including phosphorescent crystals, jade, and brass. Using its gears, cogs, crystal-projected stars, as well as several rotating planets, the planetarium acts as a kind of almanac, illustrating both recorded history as well as projected future planetary alignments. People say that they have seen this library, but people only know if they look.

 | One of many upper-class institutions that mold the young minds of the Fire Nation situated on one of the outer islands of the continent. Particularly one of the better public schools of the Nation, the academy retains teachers who maintain strict order and are intensely focused on creating ideal Fire Nation citizens. The curriculum includes etiquette, Fire Nation history, history of warfare, music and firebending classes.

 | A small island which bore and homed the previous Avatar Roku. When he wasn't attending to his Avatar duties, Roku and his wife Ta Min dwelled peacefully in a modest cottage here. Currently, the isle bares the resemblence of a barren wasteland, showing no signs of past or present civilization. This is a result of a volcanic eruption which took place 112 years ago that buried the island village in deep ash. In the end, Roku lost his life battling the volcanic eruption in the effort to save his home.

 | One of the several industrial towns in the Fire Nation that provides total support towards the war effort. The most conspicuous evidence of this dedication stands at the city's center, a giant statue of Fire Lord Ozai with his head tilted back and fire gushing from his hands and mouth like a fountain. The monument is so famous and considered to be so inspirational to Fire Nation citizens that the city officially changed its name from North Chung-Ling to Fire Fountain City.

 | Located in the remote Patola mountain range, the Southern, Jongmu Air Temple, supposedly only accessible via flying bison, was the boyhood home of the current Avatar, Aang, and his father-like mentor, Monk Gyatso. This part of the Air Temple is usually where people are the busiest. But everyone is full of life.

 | High in the upper reaches of the Earth Kingdom resides the Northern Air Temple. It was home to the Flying Bison polo championships in the days when the monks lived in it. After the extermination of the monks, the temple was rediscovered by the Mechanist and his group of refugees. | A medium-sized town, ruled by a mayor. This town was founded by the followers of the warlord Chin, who is worshiped by the citizens after he was killed by Avatar Kyoshi. This has led to a longstanding hatred of the Avatar, culminating with the 'Avatar Day' celebration, an anti-avatar holiday. The focal point of the festival is the burning of large effigies representing the past Avatars. Chintown has a strange justice system, called "Just US", where Mayor Tong tells the story like he thinks it is and the accused tells it like what he thinks it is. This place is the very structured and organized. It is off the coast of the Northern Air Temple.

 | A small farming village situated at the base of Mount Makapu, a usually dormant volcano located near the western coast of the Air Temple. Despite the danger that it provided, the original settlers decided to establish their home at the foot of the volcano because of the rich, fertile volcanic soil it retained. The founders then established a tradition of going up to the mountain once every year to check to see if the volcano would erupt, but the custom was abandoned and the worry greatly eased twenty years ago by the arrival of the fortuneteller Aunt Wu. Now this old village, became a giant arena for Air Benders to train and have many tournaments for people all over the world. Earth Benders, Air Benders, Water Benders, and Fire Benders
